“I Speak Doggie”
A dog safety presentation for pre-schoolers
While most bite prevention programs focus on what to do when a stray or aggressive dog approaches a child, “I Speak Doggie” represents a whole new take on dog safety. With children under the age of 5 most at risk of dog bites, and 82% of all bites coming from the family or a friend’s dog, the importance of teaching kids how to behave safely around the dogs they spend time with cannot be understated. “I Speak Doggie” is a simple, fun and interactive presentation that focuses on teaching kids in Adelaide how to stay safe around the dogs they know and love. The presentation is only 30 minutes long and uses a music video to get this important message across with lyrics that are so catchy kids (and educators!) keep singing about dog safety long after the presentation is over!
Dog Safety Incursion for Childcare and Kindy
The “I Speak Doggie” Program is a popular dog safety incursion for Childcare Centres, Early Learning Centres, and kindergartens in Adelaide. Designed specifically for young children, the session teaches practical dog safety skills in a way that is fun, memorable, and developmentally appropriate.
Because the program supports learning outcomes within the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), it fits easily into early learning environments while helping educators promote child safety, empathy, and respect for animals.
The short 30-minute session makes it an ideal childcare incursion, allowing centres to provide valuable safety education without disrupting the daily routine.
How does it work?
The program is flexible — We can visit a single class or present to groups of up to 30 children at a time. If you’d like to book a session for your preschool, please get in touch to find out more and schedule a suitable time.
