Rapid Recall:
The Art of Coming when Called
Recall is one of the most important skills to teach your dog. It’s not only essential for your dog’s safety, but it also helps ensure the safety of others around you. Whether you're out for a walk, at the park, or enjoying time in an open space, being able to call your dog back reliably can prevent dangerous situations, such as running into traffic, approaching other dogs or people inappropriately, or getting too close to wildlife or hazardous areas.
Despite recall being one of the most desired behaviours, it’s often one of the least accomplished goals in dog training. Thus, if your dog doesn't always come when called, you're not alone—this is a common challenge many dog owners face! Your dog not coming when called can be due to various factors, such as inconsistent practice, distractions, or not using the right techniques. However, the good news is that a reliable recall is actually simpler to train than many people think!
With the right guidance, you can teach your dog to come back every time you call. It’s all about understanding the rules of recall, setting your dog up for success, and practicing in different environments to reinforce the behaviour.
Join us at the Rapid Recall Workshop, where you'll learn:
Fun and engaging recall games to make training enjoyable for you and your dog
Recall training in different environments and situations to prepare for any scenario
Effective techniques to maintain your dog's focus and engagement, ensuring they listen no matter the distractions
What to do (and what not to do!) when your dog doesn’t come back, helping you avoid common pitfalls and mistakes
